Facts, no matter how convincing, rarely trump a good, solid dose of repetition.
Another slave of Descartes! It's shocking how people completely buy into his project and its answers without any awareness of the fact.
I was having a discussion with a CEO and engineer the other day and both were criticizing how philosophy hadn't helped us find the answers to any of the central questions of humanity. I couldn't help but think how shallow they were to think those questions were open and still not pursue them. Kant would recognize them as a "plaster-cast of a living man".Those who turn the meaning of life into a mere trifle become themselves said trifle.
On the other hand, as pointed out here, the practical wisdom does have to go with the philosophical knowledge and I usually value the former over the latter.
