Facts, no matter how convincing, rarely trump a good, solid dose of repetition.
"If we take in our hand any volume; of divinity or school metaphysics, for instance; let us ask, Does it contain any abstract reasoning concerning quantity or number? No. Does it contain any experimental reasoning concerning matter of fact and existence? No. Commit it then to the flames: for it can contain nothing but sophistry and illusion." -David Hume
Is Hume self-refuting there?
I think he's being ironic.
Hmm… Maybe Dawkin's current career is ironic and he'll turn around on his death bed to reveal that it was atheism that was the real monster all along!
My favorite theory in this regard is still about Ann Coulter. It seems fairly likely (to me) that she's a cross dresser or at the least someone who's undergone a sex change. I can't remember where I got that idea, probably the Onion. I'm waiting for her to come out of the closet.
The Coulter theory that I read was syphilis. (http://www.evilrobots.com/Media/0203coulter.htm) Not sure what's wrong with Malkin though. Not interned enough as a child?
Maybe Hume is just being self-deprecating? Or perhaps a Wittgensteinian move (climb the ladder then throw it down -- burn it in this case).
